Both Newton Aycliffe’s senior teams and their under 13’s side each had their respective fixtures cancelled at the weekend as some of the local playing surfaces remained unfit for cricket matches to be played.

However, during the week, Newton Aycliffe’s under 11’s team travelled to Sedgefied and came away with a superb 11 run victory thanks to an excellent opening partnership of 21 runs from Jack Lowery and Lee Reynoldson, which help set the team on their way.

The Club’s under 15’s team visited Mainsforth in the Durham County Junior league and lost by 20 runs. The home side batted first and reached 106 for 4 in their 20 overs and in reply Aycliffe were restricted to 86 for 9 with Ben Nicholson top scoring with 19 runs.

The under 18’s played only their 4th match of the season when they played away at Brandon, but unfortunately they were handed a 7 wicket defeat. Electing to bat first, Aycliffe’s openers Nathan Blakeburn and Sam Telford both scored 16 to give their side a solid start. Michael Howe then chipped in with 11, however the rest of the batsmen struggled againsts the homesides spinners and they were bowled out for 70 after 19.5 overs. In reply Brandon coasted to victory despite a wicket each from Aycliffe bowlers Michael Howe, James Layfield-Caroll and Tom Gledhill.
