The Men’s Cree at Greenfield Arts are looking forward to a creative season. The group have been offered the opportunity to work alongside artists and practitioners to learn new skills and be inspired by the extraordinary in the everyday.
Most recently the group have had the chance to explore cyanotype with professional artist and photographer Elaine Vizor, a cameraless photographic process using chemicals and light which is thought to be the very first type of photograph. The group enjoyed creating some wonderful artwork from everyday items.
The four-week photography workshop sessions have given the Cree men some insight and experience to help with their new project.
The Cree will be part of our ‘Inspired by Cornish’ programme. They will work with artists Tony Gadd and Richard Bliss to respond to the ‘Norman Cornish: A Man of Destiny’ exhibition which runs in The Greenfield Gallery from Thursday 10th October to Wednesday 11th December 2019.
The Cree alongside KS4 students from Greenfield Community College will explore the work of artist Norman Cornish to create their own modern-day contemporary response. This will result in a public exhibition at The Greenfield Gallery running from Monday 16th December for a week.
The Men’s Cree continues to meet Mondays 10:30 – 12:30 and is involved in a range of projects and activity.
