The Easter Holidays were exciting time at Greenfield Arts with our wonderful creative workshops designed for young people and families. Our free Easter holiday programme saw the return of favourites such as ‘Star of the Show’. The young people had great fun alongside talented film-maker Laura Degnan who inspired the young people to make their own film and be a star for the day! A challenge they rose to with great results! Dawn Belshaw also returned with Crazy Crafts at Shildon where the children were keen to make the most of the opportunity to make beautiful kites to take home. There was some wonderful colourful creative designs with flying Japanese fish-kites! Dawn also led a session at Aycliffe where a fabulous jig-saw was designed by the young people drawing inspiration from the Greenfield Gallery and local landmarks in Newton Aycliffe. The results were fabulous and are proudly on display in Greenfield’s Art Studio. Sharron Bates brought the art of story-making to life in Shildon with a session using our very own storymakers app.
The young people had the opportunity to create their own ‘mechanimal’ creatures within the app and build their own original story. With the help of Sharron and her experience in collage they then went on to create a work of art to take home based on their very own characters. The results were impressive and it was lovely to hear positive comments, “It made me feel happy because I like being creative” said one young participant. Our new summer learning programme is now available with extra weekly sessions for young people with the return of our regular activities in Dru Yoga and our ever popular Art Club and our brand new venture Movie Makers.
