Five swimmers from Sedgefield 75 swimming club went to Tynemouth to participate in host club Newcastle Swim Team’s County Qualifier meet. The competition was timed to give a last chance to achieve qualifying times for the forthcoming County Championships in February.
Aviana Wilson kicked it off with a PB in 50m freestyle. She also took over two seconds off her 100m freestyle best and claimed bronze in 50m backstroke. Niamh Renton also swam a PB in 50m freestyle and then took over a second off her 50m backstroke best in a very good time.
Jessica Bell won five medals from her five events with a silver in 50m butterfly and bronzes in 100m fly, 50m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley. Emma Price took a gold in 200m IM and silver in 200m backstroke.
Evie Weston swam in five events and it was a good weekend for her butterfly as she took over a second from her PBs in the 50m and 100m distances.
The swim club operates at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre with a catchment covering the old Sedgefield District Council area, hence the name.
