Town Councillor Bill Curtis is mounting a campaign to retain the No. 16 bus service in the town, destined to be withdrawn in December.
He asked the Town Council to support him as it would cause considerable hardship to those reliant on public Transport. One youngster may have to give up his job at Faverdale and elderly people using the route will be unable to get about.
Bill expressed his frustration with the Bus Company he wrote to, who have completely ignored his letter and provided no good reason for their actions.
The Town Council resolved to pursue the matter and contact the MP for his support.
Meanwhile Bill wants to call a meeting of the bus companies to explain their plans for public transport in Newton Aycliffe.
