On Monday 5th November the Oak Leaf Sports Complex hosted a presentation evening for the winners of the Annual Great Aycliffe Town Council Fireworks Display Safety Poster Competition, which has been a firm favourite of the town’s children for many years. This year entries were received from individual children but only Stephenson Way, Vane Road and Walworth Schools.
The entries were all of a high standard making judging very difficult! Having accomplished this task on 9th October, the Mayor Cllr Val Raw, accompanied by Mayoress Cllr Barbara Clare, presented the prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in four age categories, ranging from 3 to 10 years. Afterwards the children, and their families, enjoyed the spectacular Fireworks Display.
