The Chairman of Durham County Council, Cllr Linda Marshall, JP, accompanied by her husband and consort, Cllr David Marshall visited Woodham Community Technical College in Newton Aycliffe.
The Chairman wanted to meet the students who designed and manufactured, at the school medals and lanyards for the recent County Durham International Games. With support from Durham County Council and nearby Aycliffe Fabrications, the pupils drew up the design and even oversaw the manufacturing and financial processes. The students’ medals were distributed to the winning athletes at Durham County Council’s International Youth Games.
“The medals were fantastic and we were very keen to find out how they came about their ideas along with the process of making them and above all to thank them for the high quality medal that went around the world.”
