Woodham Academy’s Let’s Get Cooking Club invited their friends, family, governors and the local Community to a festive meal in December. The evening was very successful and enjoyed by all. The pupils prepared, cooked and served an impressive 3 course meal.
All members worked extremely hard over a six week period to produce some exciting dishes to serve. Dishes included homemade minestrone soup with homemade bread, turkey breast stuffed with Italian sausage and sweet cranberry sauce, mushroom, cranberry and brie wellington, homemade Christmas pudding and caramel sauce, followed by hand crafted chocolates that were made by pupils during the evening in front of guests
The evening was described as ‘delicious and at restaurant standards’ by one of the guests.
Linda Vipond, Woodham Academy chef and the club coordinator, said “I am very proud of all the club members. They have demonstrated skills and knowledge of a high standard. I aim to arm children with appropriate life skills to make healthy meals and also mentor those that wish to work further in hospitality.”
The club runs on a Tuesday 3.15pm and is keen to involve the local community and family members in their activities with the aim to get more people cooking Please contact Linda Vipond on 01325 300328 for further details.
