It is probably fortunate that the roof of St. Clare’s Church has been repaired or it may have been in danger of being raised last Friday when Wear Valley Music Theatre Company and The Marie Clare Singers gave their concert of Songs from the Shows.
It was a truly wonderful medley ranging from Cats to Les Miserables, an entertaining rendition of Sing a Song of Sixpence arranged by Michael Disk, and included audience participation of some patriotic renditions of war time songs, ending with Land of Hope and Glory
The audience joined in with great enthusiasm and gave a standing ovation to these talented performers under the baton of George Lee, accompanied by Graham Hewitt on keyboard. It left all who attended with a truly feel good factor, many commented on leaving that we needed more performances of this standard
