A new Community Shop managed by Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) is officially opening this Saturday 16 February at the Healthy Hearts family event.
The shop is next to the Post Office in Newton Aycliffe Town Centre and will be used by local community groups and organisations to promote their services and activities under the umbrella of ‘Active Aycliffe’.
The aim of ‘Active Aycliffe’ is to promote health and wellbeing for children, young people and families, and to encourage participation in local activities to improve their lifestyle. The shop will showcase the activities of local clubs and associations and provide a market place of information.
Jane Hartley Chief Executive for the PCP says “We want people to visit the ‘Community Shop’ to discover the huge variety of local activities and services that people can access on their own doorstep. We want people to have fun, try something new and celebrate what Aycliffe has to offer.”
“A huge thank you to the Aycliffe Shopping Centre for the use of the shop, and to Greenfield College COPE group and Durham Tees Valley Probation’s Unpaid Work Unit who have been busy decorating the shop, ready for the launch event this weekend.”
