Each month, Neville Parade Methodist Church in Newton Aycliffe adopts a ‘charity of the month’ most recently it adopted ‘Toilet Twinning.’
Toilet Twinning is raising funds to enable people living in poor communities to have clean water, a decent toilet, and to learn about hygiene – a vital combination that prevents the spread of disease, reduces the number of deaths among children, and brings hope for the future.
Church members and friends of Neville Parade church are flushed with success having raised £261.95 for Toilet Twinning. They have twinned all four of their facilities with latrines in Bangladesh, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
Some 2.5 billion people don’t have somewhere safe & hygienic to go to the loo. Toilet twinning is such an easy thing to do to make a real difference to people’s health, safety and quality of life. It literally works on flushing away poverty!” UK-based charities Cord and Tearfund created ‘Toilet Twinning’, a unique way to help transform lives in poor communities across the world.
