On behalf of Churches Together in Great Aycliffe, I would like to thank Tesco for allowing us to take a bucket collection in their store on Saturday 1st June 2019. Thank you also to Tesco customers who donated so generously and to the volunteers from our churches who gave their time so willingly to collect for Christian Aid. The amount raised from the bucket collection was £453.65, plus £84.45 from Christian Aid envelopes.
In addition to this we also held a Quiz Night and Pie & Pea Supper at the Golf Club on Friday 14th June. I would like to thank all those who sold tickets and all those who attended the Quiz Night from our various churches in the town. A big thank you to our Quiz Masters for such an enjoyable fun evening and the Golf Club for the delicious pies and peas. A great night was had by all and the amount raised for Christian Aid was £329.85. In total we raised £867.95 from these events and a cheque for this amount has been sent off to Christian Aid.
Christian Aid reaches out to people all over the world in tragic circumstances, regardless of race, religion or creed. It works with poor communities across the world to bring lasting change for the most vulnerable people on earth. That’s why our local volunteers are just a few of the thousands raising money during Christian Aid Week for the world’s poorest people. This year’s Christian Aid Appeal focuses on Sierra Leone which is the world’s most dangerous place to become a mother.
Thank you all for your generosity and support.
