It’s been a busy few weeks in Room 13 at Greenfield Arts, as we start to use this fantastic new space! There has been a programme of SOLEs sessions led by staff at the College for students on subjects including diary entries, Fair trade and more.
Alongside this activity we have also welcomed a group of colleagues from the Netherlands who are interested in the enquiry based learning we have become known for.
A highlight of the activity are weekly sessions where students from Chilton Primary School have been researching new books to add to their school’s library. After they have completed researching they will present their findings to the Head Teachers at Chilton to inform what new books they will purchase. The pupils have been helped in their research by staff from Greenfield Community College and Greenfield Arts as well as students from Greenfield who have a passion for reading. This has been a fantastic opportunity to introduce the younger pupils to the space and SOLEs.
At the end of this month staff from Greenfield Arts will be leading a continued professional development session to staff at Chilton Primary School, discussing this fantastic new space and how they can use Professor Sugata Mitra’s SOLEs methods in their school.
We are pleased to be able to continue to share the success of the space and the enquiry based learning we champion here at Greenfield, and have plans to expand this to include further young people and the community in the coming months.
