Children at Woodham Burn Primary School have been using their ideas to raise money for Cancer Research. In April, Mr Liam Montgomery, dad to Ciara (Y4) and Erin (Y6) approached head teacher, Mrs Rowe and asked if the school might like to support him in his bid to raise money for this worthy cause.
Mr Montgomery ran the London Marathon to raise much needed funds, and his efforts spurred children into thinking of their own fund-raising schemes. These ranged from car washing, to drawing and selling original artwork to holding a mini sponsored walk! The outcome was a cheque for over £500 which was gratefully received by Cancer Research who presented a certificate of thanks to the school. Ciara and Erin are shown in this photo with Head Teacher Riannon Rowe at School Assembly.
