Thanks to a Rotary Club Charity Night at the British Legion the Newton Aycliife Poppy Appeal for 2013 will be a record. Club President Geoff Batchelor accompanied by Rotarian Angela Stevenson presented a cheque this week for over £1150 to Poppy Appeal organiser Dave Preston.
Trish Reed’s head shave on the night contributed £1300 in sponsorship money which was a remarkable achievement and she thanks all those who gave their support.
“We have held a number of charity nights in the British Legion Club who give their premises and resources free of charge including live entertainment. To show our appreciation we decided to share the proceeds from this event with the Poppy Appeal and it was a great effort. We are most grateful to Trish who collected a staggering amount of sponsorship and to all who came along to the Charity Night” said Geoff.
