The Annual Mayor’s Charity Civic Ball was hosted by the Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Mary Dalton, on Friday, 19th February 2016 at Woodham Golf and Country Club. Music for dancing was provided by John Melvin.
Fund raising at the event was in aid of the Mayor’s nominated Charity during her Year in Office and this year the Mayor has chosen the Renal Unit at James Cook Hospital.
A special thanks must go to Barclays Bank who match funded the evening’s fund raising of £1,273 making the total amount raised to £2,273.
Mrs. Denese Cartwright, President of the Rotary Club of Newton Aycliffe, gave a response to the Mayor on behalf of the guests and presented a cheque for £500 for the charity from the town’s Rotarians..
Councillor Mary Dalton would like to take this opportunity to thank Ebac (Norfrost) Ltd. for their generosity in supplying a Chest Freezer to be raffled on this occasion.
The Mayor also thanked the following for their support of gifts to be raffled:- Sardies Restaurant, Darlington – Occasions Card Shop – Thames Centre Butchers – Sainsbury’s at Cobblers Hall – Tesco Extra – Creations Hair Salon – Village Pharmacy – Don Walker Butchers – Wilko – Sue’s Florist – Redz Fish & Chips and fellow Councillors and friends who have also supported her during the year by donating gifts to help the fund raising.
