Town Councillor Derek Atkinson saw a Tesco van cause the damage shown to a grass verge on Shafto Way and questioned the driver. He didn’t seem to care much and enquired what he could do about the mess? Counc Atkinson got in touch with his Manager at Durham City depot who promised to pay for any restitution.
Durham County Council were made aware of the incident and our Town Councillor waits to see if the damage will be repaired. The Police are also starting to take notice of this damage and treating as obstruction those areas which interfere with pedestrian access. Fixed notices and fines will be issued where this is reported and residents can inform the police on 101.
