Dear Sir,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, your readers and the greater community of Newton Aycliffe for giving us support over the past couple of weeks. It’s not every day a new band starts but, when it does, it’s make or break! And we seem to be off to a cracking start with our enthusiasm and our finely tuned set list, which is proving to be very entertaining.
It has to be said, Aycliffe can be a very hard town to please, many have tried, many have failed, and it’s a risk we were willing to take . . . nothing ventured, nothing gained. We were very nervous about playing our launch gig at the Aycliffe Street Food Market back on 19th July, but we maintained our spirit despite a shaky start and wowed a growing audience and made it to our first encore! Amazing.
A week later, we performed at the OakLeaf Sports Complex in the bar area, once again, with many nerves as to will there be an audience or not and, to our surprise, there was indeed. It turned out alright on the night with a demand for a second encore. Incredible.
The next day we attended the fantastic Ayclive Music Festival as we were invited to be understudies, just in case, which was a great honour and opportunity. Despite a few brief downpours, we really enjoyed being backstage and the overall atmosphere.
It was great meeting other acts and chatting to people, but it was a special moment when our new MP Alan Stickland came to see us backstage and showed support for us as a new band in his constituency. Thank you.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to play, but we got a moment to announce ourselves to the masses, which was a great moment. The next day, we played our final gig of our BIG weekend at Blake’s Sports & Lounge Bar, What a great place to play in, no issues, just great people who really enjoyed our music.
We now have a few gigs in Bishop Auckland, but will be back in Aycliffe on Friday 9th August at the Steam Machine Brewing Company from 8pm, with our special guest, the legend that is, Mr. Gary Grainger.
We thank each and every one of you for coming to see us so far and we hope to see you all again very soon. Without you, there’s no us . . . we are Casbah!
Thank you.
