Animal lovers at Rose Lodge Care Home hosted a foodbank collection for welfare charity Dogs Trust. Residents, staff and visitors to the home, which provides residential and dementia care for the elderly, donated dog food items and parcels so that the pups in the charity’s care can enjoy extra ‘creature comforts’.
A representative from the Dogs Trust visited the home to collect their donations and brought along Jeremy the beagle to meet with residents and staff at the home.
The collection was suggested by staff members due to the popularity of animals with residents at Rose Lodge. As well as two home pets Toby the Cockatiel and Nixon the cat which are cared for by the residents, Rose Lodge has also welcomed visits from a mix of domestic and exotic animals, from miniature horses, dogs and rabbits through to barn owls, lizards and snakes as part of an ongoing animal therapy programme at the home.
Nicola Wheatley, Care Manager at Rose Lodge, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed working with the Dogs Trust and thank everyone for their support.”
