Dear Editor
I was absolutely shocked to read in last week’s Newton News that the Bewick Crescent car park was to be closed off for a whole week and to be used as a fair ground for this week’s activities in the town centre.
This car park, although not belonging to the Bewick Crescent Surgery, is used by people visiting the Doctors’ Surgery and to close it off and use as a fairground attraction is absolutely disgraceful.
People who are disabled as well as those who are really ill are now being forced into a position where they need to find alternative space to park and perhaps walk a great distance to get to the surgery.
There are several playing fields in the vicinity that could surely have been used for this triviality instead of closing off this car park. What on earth is going on here?
