I would like to thank, through the Newton News, everyone who supported our first Xmas Raffle where we raised an amazing total of £515 with all prizes claimed.
A few weeks back we had a meeting regarding helping more people on the town with a cancer diagnosis who have no one to turn to. We went to Bryan Haldane, Town Centre Management and said what we wanted to do and he kindly agreed to hire an empty shop as they like to support local good causes.
We wanted to help isolated people living in poverty to let them know they not on their own, handing them free clothing and refreshments. Myself and the group would personally like to say thank you to Bryan as he was a great help.
Over the last 12 months our group has nearly doubled and we have started so many new projects including providing Free Patient Transport for Cancer patients who need to go to hospital for treatment such as Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy. This service is open to any cancer patient and if you are not a member then just a small donation is fine.
