Sugar Hill like most schools in the town are trying to get parents to stop dropping off and picking up their children fom outside school gates as it is a safety problem and a road traffic nightmare.
This week the school have a campaign to get the message across with children calling attention to the issue with placards and staff talking to parents.
In addition Police and Traffic Officers were on duty to warn parents they were breaking the law by stopping in certain areas.
Nevertheless a number of parents continued to flout the law and were duly cautioned. Some argued they would do as the wish whatever the outcome, stopping anywhere they please without regard for children’s safety or causing an obstruction.
One parent allowed their child to get out of the car in the middle of the road and another was very rude to a teacher who asked the parent politely not to stop.
Most parents are walking their children to school while others who need to travel by car do park away from the school, some using the Big Club car park which they have kindly offered for this purpose.
