Businesses in County Durham are being invited to apply for a free voucher to help them get connected. The Go Digital Newcastle scheme helps small or medium sized businesses, charities and social enterprises take advantage of faster broadband.
The initiative has now been rolled out to include County Durham, allowing local businesses to apply for a free Connection Voucher worth up to £3,000 towards the fixed cost of getting connected.
Eligible organisations will be required to pay the VAT and ongoing costs after the broadband connection has been set up.
Digital Durham and Business Durham, the business arm of Durham County Council which provides a range of support services to the local business community, are urging local businesses to apply for the scheme and take advantage of its benefits.
Simon Goon, managing director of Business Durham, said: “Faster broadband speeds provide a multitude of benefits. We would encourage as many small or medium sized businesses throughout the county as possible to apply to sign up to the scheme and take advantage of all that high-speed broadband has to offer.”
Go Digital Newcastle is coordinating the scheme, which runs until 31 March, 2016, on behalf of all local authorities in the north east – for more information call 0191 277 1625 or visit www.godigitalnewcastle.co.uk
