Scotland came to a Newton Aycliffe care home as it hosted a Burns Night party for residents, families and guests from the local community.
Catrina Dulston of the Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band visited the home in traditional Highland dress to play bagpipes as party-goers enjoyed tucking into haggis, neeps and tatties and a selection of cakes and refreshments.
After performing she met with residents who were keen to congratulate her on her playing. She said: “It’s been lovely playing at Rose Lodge and meeting the residents. I was made to feel very welcome. Any of them are welcome to join the band anytime they like!”
Every year the life and work of poet Robert Burn is celebrated around the globe on the Bards birthday, January 25th.
Nicola Wheatley, Home Manager at Rose Lodge, said: “We’ve had a brilliant time at our Burns Night party. It’s become a bit of a tradition here at Rose Lodge after a party we held last year proved very popular with residents and their families.”
Rose Lodge care home, operated by care home provider Countrywide Care Homes, provides residential care and dementia care and was awarded Home of the Year in the 2017 MMCG and Countrywide Care Awards.
