Great Aycliffe Town Council have been busy planting spring bulbs on many of their sites in recent weeks and to complete this programme they have organised a public bulb planting session within West Park.
The event will take place Sunday 22nd November at 10am meeting in the carpark near McColls shop in the park. Volunteers are asked to simply come along in suitable footwear and clothing and spend up to an hour planting bulbs such as native daffodils, snowdrops and mixed crocus bulbs to provide some such needed early spring colour next year.
As part of the Town Councils bulb planting programme they have been working with staff from Newton Aycliffe’s Children Centre to visit 11 nurseries around the town to encourage the children to plant crocus bulbs in their local community with the assistance of bulbs provided by Durham County Councillors.
