Darlington Building Society has appointed three new high-calibre non-executive directors to join the Board and help guide the future growth of the 163-year-old member owned business.
Angela Russell, Kate McIntyre and Jessica Williams collectively bring a wide range of skills and expertise from varied backgrounds which will add significant value to the strategy, governance and ongoing development of the Society.
Angela has over 30 years’ experience in financial services in the UK and abroad, most recently as deputy CEO and finance director of the Newcastle Building Society – a role she held for some eight years until retiring last year. A chartered accountant by profession, through her career she has held a variety of roles covering finance, risk, audit, change management and corporate planning. In addition to her role at the Society, she is a member of the Council and Finance Committee at Newcastle University and is a trustee and chair of the Audit Committee at the Percy Hedley Foundation.
Kate has a career spanning over 30 years that has seen her undertake various cross-sector leadership roles in financial services. A chartered accountant by background with various former directorships, she brings a blend of knowledge and experience to the Society in areas including customer services, IT, change management, strategy, risk and operations. In addition to her role at the Society she is currently chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Cirencester Friendly Society and a trustee and treasurer of the Brathay Trust.
As the founder and managing director of Stockton-based business Just Williams, Jessica specialises in sales outsourcing. She has a wealth of sales experience gained whilst at the Yorkshire Bank and the Entrepreneurs’ Forum and has recently been shortlisted for the Breaking the Mould award at the Tees Businesswomen Awards. She is a fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing, a board member at Teesside University Business School and an advisor to the Tees Valley Combined Authority Business Engagement board.
