Recently three members of D.D.R.S.C competed in the British Figure and Free British Championships that were held at Kettering. Elle Jeffries-Mayhew aged 16 won a bronze medal in Figures and placed 6th in the Free.

This achievement led to an invitation to join the British Training Squad which opened an opportunity for selection to represent the country in European competition.

During this training weekend Elle gained advice and hints to improve her skating skills from the invited national Spanish coach, Montse Arbos.

This years competition was the first year the Rollart Judging System was implemented, this system moves from emphasis being mostly on the element to the storytelling within their skating routines. The girls did very well adapting to this new regime in a short space of time.

Evie Myers and Kaitlyn Mayhew both aged 12 also skated in this competition and both acquitted themselves really well, the club is very proud of them.

We would also like to acknowledge the hard work the coaches put in especially head coach Janet Lodge who, with the help of Joanne and Laura, has researched the new format and implemented these competition changes in a very short time.

It is thanks to their hard work and dedication that the club can produce competition skaters. We have a further four girls training hard to compete in the Novice Competition, also held at Kettering, in the near future, we wish them the best of luck.

D.D.R.S.C as a whole from the youngest skater of 3 years old to the oldest skater 24 Years will be competing in a skating gala to be held at Aycliffe Leisure Centre in July. We hope they enjoy the experience, especially the younger girls.

Good Luck To All!
