Shades of Rock are a new music promotion company, committed to bringing the highest quality rock and blues-rock music to the North East. Based in Bishop Auckland, they have a series of concerts booked across the region, featuring internationally renowned artistes such as Aynsley Lister and Larry Miller, who tour regularly throughout Europe, including many of the large summer festivals.

By bringing artistes of this calibre at affordable ticket prices (£12 average), they aim to offer excellent quality music that everyone can enjoy, right on their doorstep. Local live music events have been on the wane in many towns, often due to excessive ticket pricing or concerts only being staged further afield. They hope to reinvigorate the live music scene in the region, including at Shildon Civic Hall.

Their aim for next year is to organise a 2 day summer festival at a location in the North East, currently under discussion. This festival will be planned for an audience of over 3,000, including camping, and by forging links with local companies for food, drink and sponsorship, they aim to promote tourism in the area, by bringing concert-goers from much further afield to visit the region.

Hopefully the festival will establish itself as an annual event and grow in size and popularity, whilst retaining strong northern links, by featuring world-class, well known artists, alongside support acts from this region who are up and coming. This allows them to support new north-east bands and offer them the exposure, alongside established artists, that may not otherwise be available to them.

Shildon Civic Hall are featuring Aynsley Lister on Friday 5th October, Shildon Rock-Blues all-day Festival (Larry Miller headline) on Sunday 18th November and Letz Zep on Saturday 24th November.
