Newton Aycliffe FC take on local rivals Shildon at Moore Lane on Boxing Day. The game will be the second meeting in just over a week for the two sides who are due to meet in the Durham Challenge Cup on Tuesday 18 December.
The reverse league fixture, played on August Bank Holiday, saw Aycliffe come away with a point from Dean Street after the sides shared 6 goals. There have been squad changes for both clubs since then with Aycliffe bringing in several new players. Amongst them is former Shildon player Ben Wood who has scored 4 goals in his six appearances since signing from West Auckland at the end of October.
Aycliffe lie in 12th place in the Ebac Northern League Division One just one place and one point behind Shildon, having lost just once in their last 8 outings.
Last weekends cold spell proved too much for a number of Northern League games and Aycliffe’s home match against Stockton Town fell victim to a frozen pitch.
The Boxing Day game against Shildon kicks off at 1:00pm. Admission is Adults £6, Concessions £4 & accompanied under 12s free.
With only one other Boxing Day game in the Ebac Northern League Division One Aycliffe are hoping for a big crowd so come along & support our Town’s team.
