Martin Muir undertook a grueling test to finally achieve his Black Belt last week. The 50 year old truck driver has been practising Karate for over 30 years and has struggled through much personal adversity along his journey to reach this goal, although he will also admit, getting your Black Belt is just the start.
Martin trains at Newton Aycliffe Karate Club, which is one of the longest running martial arts clubs in the area.
The club runs classes from 6 years up and a great way to start the new year with trying out a fun way to both keep fit in a family friendly environment whilst also learning a practical self defence.
Classes are at Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information contact Sensei Andy Bailey on 07999 501379 or email naanshinryu@gmail.com.
