Dear Sir,
After reading the shocking and rather alarming response to the West Park lake cleanup I contacted my daughter who is an Ecologist and Conservationist. Below are a couple of links she has sent me on the subject of eutrophication which contradict the Environmental Officer’s strange argument for the welfare of the eco-systems in and around the boating lake.

The scientific evidence shows that algae has a detrimental affect on wildlife:
“This bloom of algae disrupts normal ecosystem functioning and causes many problems.
The algae may use up all the oxygen in the water, leaving none for other marine life. This results in the death of many aquatic organisms such as fish, which need the oxygen in the water to live.”
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any further research or support with your continued and well placed project, restoring West Park Boating Lake.
