Enterprising Woodham Academy students travelled to the University of York as they bid to seal the deal on a trip to the Big Apple.
The team of Year 9 and 10 students are taking part in the leading university’s ‘The Big Deal’ competition. The challenge sees teams of high-achieving students develop business plans, which they then pitch at a Dragons’ Den style event. The winning team is then taken on a business trip of a lifetime to New York City.
Woodham Academy Headteacher Christine Forsyth said: “At Woodham Academy, we are all committed to providing our students with as many opportunities as possible to realise their potential. We regularly work alongside leading universities and employers to raise our students’ aspirations, and to enable them to succeed in their future careers.”
As part of The Big Deal challenge, the Woodham Academy team is working through an online curriculum with mentoring support from business professionals who work across a range of sectors. The team will return to York in June for the final.
