Bakers from the patient representative group at Bewick Crescent Surgery rose to the occasion, donning their pinnies for Macmillan last week. The dough they raised was £343.80 for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Louise Trowell, a Macmillan Primary Care Nurse said “It was really great to see everyone joining in the ‘guess the height of the cake’ and we were really spoilt by the great bakes that people donated.” Nurse Joanne Jones was a legend in winning “Star Baker”.
Units of alcohol, breast and testicular self-examination kits, and information about lifestyle modifications were shared to get people to think about how they could reduce their risk of developing a cancer.
Because people were so generous, the money raised will help run a small Macmillan Information Centre for 1 day, helping people affected by cancer to find information and support.
It will also pay for a patient to receive a personalised eHNA assessment and care plan and 10 copies of our credit card resource explaining the symptoms and causes of some cancers.
