As pledged in our election manifesto, Aycliffe West County Councillors Eddy Adam & Kate Hopper continue to support local Residents Associations, clubs and schools. These comprise, among others, School Aycliffe Community Association, WASPS & The Hub Of Wishes; townwide organisations such as Newton Aycliffe Youth & Community Centre and the Pioneering Care Partnership, as well as county wide services such as the NEFirst Credit Union & Age Concern Durham. In direct response to residents’ concerns, our most recent Neighbourhood Budget spends have funded the installation of designated car parking bays and highways improvements around the Simpasture Gate shopping parade, and the creation of access ramps for pushchair, wheelchair and mobility scooter use within the ward.
Early 2017 approved projects will see additional access ramps provided in Silkin Way and Bewick Crescent; highways improvement work in Oakfield; and, following in depth conversations with residents living in the vicinity, the soon to be realised reinstatement of the Whinlatter Place pedestrian footbridge. We sincerely hope all residents have a joyful Christmas and a peaceful New Year. Aycliffe West is a pleasant, safe and socially inclusive place to live. Let’s all work together to ensure it remains so.
