Aycliffe Beekeepers Association is running a beekeeping course for beginners. It will be held at Moore Lane Eco Centre in Newton Aycliffe on the weekend of the 16th and 17th May 2020 between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
It covers the history of beekeeping, how a hive is put together, the beekeeping year, how to spot and control pests and diseases, what to do when bees swarm and how to stop them, and how to access further education and literature. It is open to all ages and costs £50.00 for an individual and £75.00 for a couple. All equipment is provided and we make sure that you get a cup of coffee, bring your own lunch.
To discuss this further and to reserve your place please contact the training officer, Chris Barker on 07421 471581 or email training.aycliffebka@gmail.com. Further practical training for students from this course, at no additional charge, is offered at the apiary in St Oswald’s allotments over the Summer.
