This year the PCP celebrate 15 years of ‘improving health, well-being and learning for all’ and will be launching a “Friend” scheme to thank people for their continued support.
PCP was established as a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in 1998, it runs the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe. The organisation was initially set up to support local people who may have become disadvantaged through caring responsibilities, age or ill health.
Fifteen years on people from all across the North East travel to use some of the charity’s high quality services which include therapies and treatments, a hydrotherapy pool, community learning courses and specialist exercise classes such as back care.
Admiring comments from PCP service users over the years has encouraged PCP to launch a ‘Friends of PCP’ scheme which will provide additional support and access to the many activities that go on within the Pioneering Care Centre and out in the community.
PCP Supporters will receive monthly e-bulletins featuring items of interest, news and events, invitations, discounts and promotions. It will also give people more say regarding current and future PCP services.
Jane Hartley, Chief Executive of PCP says “The scheme will give us a greater appreciation of the needs of our beneficiaries and how we can support them. Their allegiance will also help us in our work, as the more supporters we have the more weight we have with people who allocate funds.
Informed supporters are also important in spreading our message and convincing others to think about improving their own health and wellbeing.”
There is a way, big or small, in which everyone can help PCP achieve its mission ‘to improve health, wellbeing and learning for all’. You can become a ‘Friend of the PCP’ by subscribing on the website at pcp.uk.net and clicking on the ‘Support PCP’ page. You can also befriend them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter or donate through their Local Giving page.
