Ex Newtonian, Joanne Forsyth, after losing almost 7 stone at Slimming World, wanted to focus on getting fit and began by running and training to complete in the Great North Run. Joanne read about a little girl who required a bone marrow transplant after her donor did not match her blood type. A big search for another donor was conducted by the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Joanne signed up with the charity to become a donor and a week later the opportunity arose to take part in the Great North Run. To support her fundraising Become a Bone Marrow Donor she is holding a raffle to be drawn on the 6th of May at Darlington Building Society offices between 9am and 12 noon. There will also be a tombola and cupcakes on sale. Before that raffle tickets will be available from Joanne at Darlington Memorial Hospital on the 27th of April also a competition to guess how many marshmallows on the cake to win on the day, between 11am and 4pm.
There will be leaflets and information available about the charity including how to become a donor. Your support would be appreciated.
