Dear Sir
‘The Moor’ Nature Reserve at Cobblers Hall next to the new housing development is going to become (when it has had time to establish itself) one of the most beautiful places in the town.
Looking at the lake, however, which is more than a metre deep in the middle, it is clear that it could also be a dangerous place. The County Councillors have insisted that there is a substantial fence around the perimeter, and that there are two lifebuoy stations. The latter will be useless, however, if vandals continue to think it is fun to throw these into the middle of the lake.
Parents and teachers of local children and teenagers are urged to speak to them, not just about keeping safe around water, but also about leaving safety equipment alone – which could be the difference between life and death for someone else.
John D. Clare.
