Numerous athletes from CrossFit All Out battled it out on the competition floor at two different events recently including Battle For Middleground (Huddersfield) and The Inferno Games (Sheffield).
On Saturday 16th June CrossFit All Out owner and Head coach Terry Anderson went up against some fantastic athletes in the Masters Elite category at this event and walked away with first place and a prize fund of £400! He said “Hard work really does pay off. Battle for Middleground was a great competition, well ran with tough workouts. I have some amazing support and am over the moon with the win.” It is great to see Coach Tez leading by example with the work he puts in daily at the gym and in competitions.
On Sunday 17th June Hayley Ashmead competed in the female scaled division. She said “I qualified 42nd and almost missed out on attending the event as I was 2 places out of qualifying, but fortunately for me some athletes pulled out and I got an invite! I trusted the programming at All Out and was pleased with how I did on the day, climbing 34 places from qualifying to finish 8th.”
Jonny Griffith also competed in the male scaled division. He said “I went into the competition with no expectations, other than to enjoy the experience! I came away from the day with 23rd place and the highlights being finishing top 15 in two of the workouts. It was nice to compete in my first competition and I’m now pushing forward to my next one in the near future.”
Sophie Bentley competed in the female scaled division. She said “I joined Crossfit All Out 6 months ago and entered Battle for Middleground for an event to focus my training on. I was nervous when I qualified but I know we train hard at All Out and was pleased with how I did on the day, climbing 10 places from qualifying to finish 21st. The workouts were tough but the experience has helped me to identify what my weaknesses are and made me motivated to get better!”
The Inferno Games
On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June Vicki Finn Smith took part in The Inferno Games, a CrossFit pairs event held at the EIS indoor track in Sheffield. This event was unlike other CrossFit competitions, had no rig movements involved, meaning there was plenty of sprinting on the track, barbell movements and unusual events such as an obstacle course. Vicki competed alongside Natasha Hughes, a fellow CrossFitter from CrossFit Watford who she met through competing. The girls fought their way to the top spot on the podium, taking away with them first place and £175 prize money to share. Vicki said “we really enjoyed the weekend, had such a good time doing workouts that weren’t your typical CrossFit style and had an awesome partner in Natasha Hughes who is an experienced athlete in the sport, competing in her 5th Inferno Games. We had four 1st place finishes, two 2nd place finishes and one 3rd place so we were happy to be consistent amongst 60 teams during the day. My favourite event by far was taking me back to my running days doing 200m sprints.”
