Greenfield Yr 7 basketball players played extremely well in the Sedgefield interschool basketball CVL which started last week.
Greenfield entered 2 teams. Both the A and B teams finishing in 1st and 2nd place overall. With some outstanding basketball played against some tough opposition from Whitworth Park, Sedgefield and Windlestone.
The A team were unbeaten, and in fact won all games except one, which was against Greenfield’s B team who finished in 2nd place overall. This was a boy’s interschool event, but Greenfield entered 2 mixed teams.
The girls did a fantastic job alongside the boys, to ensure both teams finished on top. Both teams are looking forward to the next leg of the league in February, when the winners will go through to represent Sedgefield in the County Finals in March – good luck.
In the same week Greenfield’s Yr 8/9 Boys finished 2nd in the South West Durham Schools Basketball tournament on Tuesday. They won all games in their section, including a match against Durham Johnston, and sailed through to the final.
In the final they met Durham Johnston for a second occasion, but unfortunately lost in the final, to finish runners up. The following day Greenfield’s Yr 9 became winners of the first round of the Sedgefield basketball CVL, and again are looking forward to the next round in February.
Greenfield’s Yr 7 & 8 Girls are looking forward to the first Yr 7 & 8 girls event of the season – at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Center on Sunday, 10th February.
