Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week:
Monday:Barclays
Tuesday:HSBC
Wednesday:Halifax
Thursday:NatWest
Friday:Santander
Banking Hubs are being opened across the UK and are funded and supported by nine major high street banking providers: Bank of Ireland UK, Barclays Bank UK PLC, Danske Bank, HSBC UK Bank plc, Lloyds Banking Group, NatWest Group plc, Santander UK plc, TSB Bank plc and Virgin Money.
Newton Aycliffe was chosen to receive a Banking Hub after LINK, the UK’s cash access and cash machine network, identified the need for enhanced cash services following bank branch closures in the town.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “We are pleased to announce the opening date for Newton Aycliffe’s new Banking Hub. Ensuring access to both cash and in-person banking services is vital to maintaining a thriving community, and we firmly believe that the Newton Aycliffe Hub will significantly contribute to supporting the local residents and businesses.”
Paul Howell, MP for Sedgefield, said: “Since the closure of the last bank branch was announced, I engaged with Cash Access UK and the opening of this new Banking Hub is great news for the residents of Newton Aycliffe and the wider constituency. I applaud the collaborative efforts of local banks, community representatives, and the Cash Action Group, in bringing this vision to life. Their dedication to reinforcing access to cash and essential financial services is truly commendable.
“It marks a significant step forward in safeguarding the financial well-being of our community and is a testament to our resilience and determination to adapt to the changing landscape of banking, ensuring that our residents and businesses continue to thrive.”
