Community nurses and health care assistants in the Chester-le-Street area have taken delivery of 35 new nursing bags, to support them in delivering vital care to patients at home.
Stephanie Hall, District Nurse Team Lead for Chester-le-Street said: “The nurses love the bags which mean they can keep all the equipment they need together in one easy to transport bag. This means that when visiting a patient at home they can bring everything they may need with them, in the bag, rather than having to make trips back and forth to their car, allowing them to focus their time on the patient’s needs.
“The bags come with a kneeling cushion and treatment mat and have been designed with input from community nurses to ensure they are ideal for their purpose, including being just large enough and strong enough to hold whatever may be needed during a visit to a patient. The bags meet our infection control standards as they can easily be wiped clean between visits. It’s such a simple idea but the bags will make a great deal of difference.”
The bags were very generously purchased for the community nursing teams by Chester-le-Street Primary Care Network (PCN), a partnership of seven local GP practices. They were supplied by CorrMed, who have been designing and manufacturing medical bags for many years.
Paul Dodds, Practice Manager at Bridge End Surgery said, “Chester-le-Street Primary Care Network is extremely conscious of the help and assistance provided by community nursing colleagues throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, including the delivery of the vaccination programme to patients in the community. The purchase of the bags is a considerable but worthwhile investment and we are delighted to give something back to the community nursing team that will help them in the valuable care they give patients.”
Stephanie Hall said, “We’d like to say a big thank you to Chester-le-Street PCN for enabling the purchase of the bags.”
