In response to the letter re ‘annoyed resident’ under ‘Bad Parking Upsets Shop Neighbours’ I would like to add the following.
Don’t hold your breath for the Council Highways Department to do anything about this. Twenty-two years ago there was a fatality, about two feet to the left of the car shown in your picture when a lorry mounted the pavement and killed my son.
A small bollard was placed close to the spot some time later, which was obviously a token gesture at the time on behalf of the Council.
It truly saddens me to see this problem is still going on and think perhaps one fatality is not enough in the eyes of the Council. Let’s hope something is done before more family’s lives are changed forever.
