Mark your calendars, music lovers! Ayclive is back and bigger than ever, set to rock Newton Aycliffe on July 27th at Oakleaf Sports Field. This year’s festival promises 10 hours of non-stop entertainment featuring eight fantastic bands, headlined by the legendary soul group, The Real Thing.
The Real Thing, with original vocalists Chris Amoo and Dave Smith, will take centre stage, showcasing hits from their new album ‘A Brand New Day’ alongside timeless classics like ‘You To Me Are Everything’, Can You Feel The Force’ and ‘Can’t Get By Without You’.
But, that’s just the beginning! Ayclive 2024 boasts a diverse lineup that spans decades and genres.
The festival kicks off with a bang as Jukebox Vandals take the stage. This all-female trio is set to deliver lively performances of popular classics with a punky twist. Known for their captivating pop-rock style, they’ll breathe new life into hits from icons like Cher, Human League, Tina Turner and Queen. Their powerful vocals and skilled musicianship promise to get the crowd singing and dancing from the very start.
Rock enthusiasts will be thrilled by Fossil, a 4-piece band bringing the finest in classic and melodic rock. Comprising some of the region’s top musicians, Fossil’s emphasis on powerful guitar-driven rock and massive vocal harmonies has been taking the local gig scene by storm. Their high-energy performance is guaranteed to keep the rock spirit alive throughout the day.
For fans of the Manchester scene, The Manchester Anthems will transport you back to the heyday of bands like The Stone Roses, Oasis and Happy Mondays. Their setlist is packed with retro-tinged anthems that defined a generation, capturing the danceable rhythms and psychedelic riffs of the baggy movement. Prepare for an emotive and high-octane performance that embodies the spirit of Manchester’s musical legacy.
The Angelettes, an award-winning Motown tribute act, will bring soul to the festival with their stunning harmonies, choreography and costume changes. Paying homage to Motown legends like The Supremes, Martha Reeves and Stevie Wonder, The Angelettes’ infectious energy will have audiences grooving down memory lane.
Classic rock aficionados are in for a treat with Turtle Z’s. With four decades of combined experience, this band flawlessly captures the sound and spirit of 70’s rock mastery. Their impressive guitar solos, soaring vocals and tight rhythms will transport you back to the golden age of FM radio and stadium-filling concerts.
The 80’s will come alive with Now That’s What I Call The 80’s Live. This high-energy act will deliver pumping hits from Queen, Madonna, and Whitney Houston, alongside new wave essentials from Duran Duran and The Cure. Get ready for synth-fueled retro joyrides, power ballad singalongs and non-stop dancing as we celebrate those unforgettable Reagan-era sounds.
Rounding out the lineup is Beyond Madness, an explosive 6-piece live tribute to ska legends Madness. Known for their tight cohesion and lively repertoire, Beyond Madness has won over music lovers from all backgrounds. Their performance promises to bring the house down with the infectious energy and timeless appeal of Madness’s greatest hits.
New this year is the Circus Disco Tent, an immersive experience featuring silent discos, karaoke and circus skills workshops. It’s a perfect addition to Ayclive’s family-friendly atmosphere, ensuring entertainment for all ages throughout the day. Festival-goers can look forward to a variety of food vendors and a fully stocked bar.
