In May Kayleigh Coulthard competed in a national pageant Nation Elite Miss, winning the title of Mrs United Kingdom! She goes on to compete in either Mrs Europe or Mrs Universe depending on next year’s events.
Kayleigh (26) is so excited for this opportunity and feels privileged to be Mrs United Kingdom. She first entered Pageants to build self confidence, promote community volunteering and burst the stereotype of a ‘beauty pageant’.
Pageants are not about how slim you are: or how you look in a bikini: it’s about your personality, your commitment to charity and the positive way in which you use your title.
Last week at Chilton sports and social club, Kayleigh ran her own charity pageant raising over £1000 for the charity “Bullies Out”. She is so proud of her achievements so far and cannot wait to share her journey as “Mrs United Kingdom”.
Kayleigh was born and raised in Newton Aycliffe, and her Mam, Dad and brother are her world. She attended Byerley Park School and Greenfield.
Kayleigh said: “I loved school and always strived to do my best and was awarded a trophy from the Mayor for achieving the most A* grades in the county and I have always been proud of my achievements!”
She always wanted to work with children, and completed her degree in nursing. Her ambition was to learn more, so gained another diploma in children’s mental health and became part of an amazing team.
Striving for patient care quality, she found a love in prescribing, and in the last month has completed a making me her a qualified Non medical prescriber.
At 16 Kayleigh met her current husband, Liam and they have been together for nine years getting married at Wynyard Hall on the 4th April 2015.
“Pageant life came about when I lost over 4 stone with Weight Watchers. I had amazing friends and family that supported me endlessly and still continue to be by my side through all my crazy adventures” said Kayleigh
A whirlwind of competitions started in November last year and in just 1 year Kayleigh has raised £1300 for “Bullies Out” and around £2,000 for various other charities!
She helps the community in different ways, donating to food banks, helping the homeless, supporting and donating her time spreading the message that ‘everyone is beautiful no matter what’.
“Along side all of this I have appeared in the Weight Watchers magazine, and appear on the current advertisement ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ which runs for the next year as their sponsor via Weight Watchers and trial modelling with Tyne Tees Models!
