Aycliffe’s MAD choir performed an amazing concert at the Xcel Centre last Saturday and Musical Director Evelyn Lodger said: “I’m so very proud of the guys and think they are getting better every year!” Judging by the tumultuous applause they received from an appreciative audience she is correct. The proceeds go to charity and this year Xcel Local which helps disadvantaged people received £1,230. Evelyn thanks the soloists who included Rachael Mawston, Nikki Hopkins, Lauren McAvoy, Vanessa Street, Lynne Preece, Alison O’Sullivan, Jono Holcroft, Josh Barr, Amy Harrison, Tommy Raitand Sarah Watson who were all superb. The MC was Anth Dent whose patter kept the audience amused. Thanks are also recorded for the Technicians: Kevin Lodge – sound, Lee Johnson – media, Darren Stubbs – lights and Sam Dixon for stage management. Sonia We would like to extent our heartfelt thanks to the Xcel Centre for the use of the facilities and their continued support and also to Woodham Community Centre. New members are welcome for both MAD Community Choir and Aycliffe Gospel Choir who rehearse at the community centre on a Wednesday evening from 6.45
