Under 12’s Eagles are learning quickly that every week there is a tough game to be played in Division 1. Sunday was no exception. away to Skelton, a team we’ve never beaten. The instruction was plenty of urgency; using a little more intelligence when we have the ball. Peter Robinson and I (Paul Fitzpatrick) have  not seen a better display of football by our boys. Brandon Addy, holding the ball up well and linking play. The defence Alfie Backhouse, Kieran Walton and Louis Airey looking very assured. The keeper Charlie Harrison made some class saves at very important times. Midfield, Jack Clarkson & Brennan Fitz working very hard.  Adding to this, James Sear & Leon Patel battling up and down the lines. Calum Whitfield got the winning goal after all his hard work. Parents & coaches knew we had good bunch of individuals but today they played as a team. Well done boys A great display. Great game  for the under 17’s at home to Farrington who we drew 2-2 in our last game. I, (Michael Bloomer) told the lads we were the better team last time and now was time to show it.  Two changes to the line up and tactics. It worked and Aycliffe looked very solid at the back all through the game. Aycliffe took the lead thanks to a back heel finish from J.  Bateman. S. Thompson added Aycliffe’s second when putting their defence under pressure. Aycliffe then conceded from their own free kick on the edge of their box. Straight from th kick off Aycliffe added wh a second goal from S.  Thompson who also got Aycliffe’s fourth and his hatrick minutes later. Aycliffe added their fifth goal when D. Godfrey found the top corner from a cross shot. Just as Farrington pushed forward a great trio of passes in the midfield set J. Bateman in to add his second and Aycliffe’s  sixth. Two changes at half time because of injury just unsettled Aycliffe slightly but they kept Farrington quiet.  J. Bateman sealed his hatrick and Aycliffe’s seventh . With 5 minutes to go,  Farrington added their second.  Final score 7-2. Just goes to show that when Aycliffe take their chances early they can boss teams and go onto win the game. Final word on the referee who has stepped up to our age group today and had a great  game.
