All games, over the weekend, observed a minute’s silence, ‘Lest we forget’.
Birtley Town 1 v Aycliffe U18 Girls 5
After a small period of inactivity, the girls were back with a bang as they travelled to Birtley with the bare eleven, but took them apart in clinical fashion, playing some beautiful football and coasting to a solid win. Lillie 2, Ebony 2, Sophie.
Consett Cannons 5 v Aycliffe U16 Eagles 3
Aycliffe conceded an early goal, but two goals from Ollie and a converted penalty from Ashton gave the lads the HT lead. However, four goals from the home team. MOM went to Will.
Velocity Diamonds 0 v Aycliffe U15 Angels 11
A quality performance from the players from the first minute to the last. The team dominated possession, using it well and creating loads of chances whilst defending with passion and discipline. Goals from Faith (4), Poppy (2), Hannah (2), Charli, Eveie and Amy.
Bishop Pinks 3 v Aycliffe U14 Girls 3
An even first half was edged by Aycliffe with goals from Maddy and Tia with Bishop scoring between the goals. The home team equalised early in the 2nd half, but the girls stayed calm and continued to play some excellent football and regained the lead via Payton. Aycliffe held on until the closing minutes when Bishop grabbed an equaliser. POTM: Annabelle. Players Player: Maddy.
Aycliffe U13 Wildcats 1 v Gateshead Redheugh 6
The girls worked hard against a physical side, but, unfortunately, HT 0-5. The second half and Aycliffe were in the opposition half more, creating chances. Lucy hit the bar and Amelia and Imogen had chances. Aycliffe scored when Imogen received the ball, beat her marker and crossed for Lucy to shoot into the far corner.
Aycliffe U11 Falcons v Thirsk Falcons
The Falcons took on Thirsk who are unbeaten this season. Jaxon made it 1-0. Thirsk equalised within 4 minutes and it was game on. Thirsk pressed, but couldn’t break our defence. Alfie blasted in a long shot to make it 2-1. Thirsk equalised with a few minutes to go.
Opposition POM: Harry Myers, what a game he had. Coaches POM: Phoenix, Tyler, Harry L, fantastic defending to keep Thirsk out.
Aycliffe U10 Wildcats v Foundation of Light
Another great performance from the girls, but this time they got a well-earned draw against a team near the top end of the table. The application, determination and hard work from every girl give them the deserved point.
Aycliffe U10 Eagles v Coulby Newham
A great game and a really even contest. After victory on the first game of the season, we knew Coulby Newham would be up for today’s game and they had some promising moments and gave the boys a stern test, particularly in the first half. However, it was the opposition goalkeeper who was kept busiest by the Eagles overall. The boys had chances to win the game, but a draw was a fair result.
Aycliffe U8 Eagles v Pools Youth
A great win for the lads. Aycliffe expected a really tough game against a top team who caused lots of problems in the away fixture. But they controlled the game from start to finish. Every player involved did their job perfectly. Three goals from Kurtis and a goal from Mason ensured a comfortable win. And, at the other end, the defence and keeper held firm and kept the opposition quiet.
