FC Hartlepool Greens v Aycliffe U9 Eagles
A double first for the boys, first match action of 2024 & first ever Cup match. The boys were playing a team two divisions up from them and knew it would be a challenge, however they were solid throughout and weathered pressure from the opposition well. The Eagles had the better chances and should have won comfortably but, in the end, a single goal decided the match, after another good move and cross into the box. Nice to see Sam C grab the winning goal, so often in the right place at the right time and this goal had been coming. MOM Noah C.
Whickham Fellside v Aycliffe U8 Wildcats
With a depleted squad, through illness, and no game for several weeks, it was always going to be a tough day. However, despite going behind, the girls were still in touch at half time. The second half, the girls tired and Whickham took the game.
Aycliffe U7 Eagles v Redcar Athletic
This was the Eagles first game for several weeks and the boys did not miss a beat. It was our first ever cup game against a team 2 leagues above us. The boys worked extremely hard and competed for every ball. Two goals from Oliver, one for Luke and one for Fraser on his first game for the Eagles meant we were narrowly beaten by one goal which came in the last few seconds of the game.
Cleveland Juniors v Aycliffe U8 Eagles
In their first game for weeks the boys struggled with the cold in the Cup. Playing against a team from a number of leagues above, the boys tried their best, however, went in 7- 0 down. The boys never gave up and managed to score three in the second half conceding only one in reply. Three goals from Josh.
21st All Stars v Aycliffe U10 Eagles
The first goal from Floyd, who finished well after a cut back from Will, before All Stars soon equalised. Eagles responded well in the second half with Floyd setting up George D from a corner and then Floyd scored another two rockets to get his well deserved hat trick. Phoenix, George, Adam and Sam were all rock solid at the back and Harry superb in goal.
Northallerton Town 2 v Aycliffe U13 Eagles 2 (4-3 pens)
Aycliffe dominated in the first half and soon found themselves a goal up through Rossi. Northallerton got a goal back and then went ahead 2-1, but Aycliffe were still by far the better team. Cameron levelled things up and Louie made an outstanding save when a player was through on goal to take us to penalties. A fantastic team performance from everyone. MoM Louie.
Great Ayton 5 v Aycliffe U14 Eagles 4
A game in which we went into wanting to experiment with players in different positions. Loads of positives & knowledge taken out of the game, despite the narrow defeat. We’ll look forward to the Challenge Cup & continuing to push in the League. Goals: James, Isaac, James & Posi. MOMs: Zac & Toby.
Aycliffe U17 Girls 4 v Durham FC 6
Great to have the girls back in action after nearly 2 months without a game. The girls started well, dominating proceedings but failing to convert the many chances created. They were 4-3 down at half time but soon had it levelled at 4-4, then injuries and fatigue set in and the girls faded and looked tired. Eventually losing in a game they should won. Goals: Mia 3, Ebony 1.
