Under 8 Wildcats
With no game scheduled for the girls, they took the opportunity to raise funds whilst helping the community, with a sponsored litter pick around the Greenfield-Horndale area of the town. A few girls were away for half term but the team were determined to collect as many bags of rubbish, in the 2 hours they had planned. The players and parents then ended in the Oakleaf for a lunch together. The sponsor money collected will be used to get the girls warm winter coats to wear, when they are waiting for their league games to start at Washington Hub, in the Russel Foster League.
Another weekend of cancelled football but the 2 games that were played were on 3G pitches.
Chester-le-Street U18 Girls 2 v Aycliffe U17 Girls 4 (Cup)
A great start for Aycliffe as they won the ball in midfield and Emma Curry played the perfect ball through their defence, for Keira Leigh Barnes to lift the ball into the top left corner. The opposition had other plans and came back to level the score then go ahead. Mia Glasper plays through a superb ball for Emma Curry to hit the roof of the net and score the equaliser. It was now Aycliffe who really wanted to win the cup tie. Firstly, Emma attacks on the right to score from the most acute angle to go ahead, leaving Mia to score the 4th and final goal, to take the girls into the next round.
Thirsk Falcons 0 v Aycliffe U14 Boys 6
The lads relished playing on a 3G surface & played some fantastic football. A first-half brace from Edward, second-half hat-trick from Zac & Jacob smashing one in, made for a happy journey North, back home. Aycliffe travelled with a strong squad 16 players, each getting at least half of the action meaning everyone contributed to moving the team back up to 2nd in the League. Well done lads! Well done to Zac & Edward for picking up Parents & Coaches MOMs.
